Sören
Nylin is a Professor of Animal Ecology at the Department of Zoology,
Stockholm University, Sweden, where he also earned his Ph.D. in 1991.
Currently he is acting Head of Department. Besides Ecology and
Evolutionary Biology he teaches Philosophy of Science, Research Ethics
and other practical aspects of the scientific process.
His research focus is on the
Evolutionary Ecology of insects, particularly the co-evolution between
butterflies and their larval host plants. He has published close to 70
scientific papers and book chapters in this field. He is however new to
the field of cultural studies, besides a distant past as writer for
Sweden’s major rock magazine, Schlager, during his pre-graduate
university studies in the 80’s.
Sören is married to Maria (also a Buffy
and Whedon fan, which helps) and he has two children, one of whom
doesn’t mind watching the episodes the first time around.
